During our stay at Goodenough my wife and I were lucky to win entry to a garden party at Buckingham Palace.

Whilst the Queen met with planned individuals amongst the crowd, Prince Philip walked the perimeter and chatted with people. He talked to a mayor standing next to my wife and discussed the Saxon & Norman origins of his mayoral chain, then guessed which town it was from, to the delight of the Mayor. 

He then talked to my wife about her PhD research topic and showed considerable understanding of the implication of modern technology on the Laws of War!

He will be missed
